Telephone support & tutoring

There is a difference between tutoring and support, support is free and tutoring is paid for. If you have a urgent support issue with your design-star* website please call 01934 644064 (if outside of hours please leave a message as I do check the service frequently). Please note that I cannot advise on subjects that are outside of my control such as your internet connection or hardware. You will need to contact your internet service provider or hardware manufacturer directly.
If you need help or tutoring over the telephone this service is available and can be booked in advance and costs 40p per minute. Tutoring via the telephone can help you for example if you have little or no experience with the internet, e-mail and other related services. I provide telephone tutorials directly with me, for example, I can help you learn how to set up your e-mail account on your pc (average call time for e-mail tutorial is 15 to 30 minutes making the cost £6 - £12). All time is billed per minute so you do not pay for any time not used. Should you require me to tutor you at your office or home I charge £45 per hour plus travel.

Fees, deposit, invoicing and additional work

The fees stated on this website are based on my hourly fee of £25 (except for animation which is £45 per hour), if you require more time then additional hours will be charged by the minute at the rate of £25 per hour (except for animation which is £45 per hour). I will notify you in writing via e-mail if your requests mean more time and await your approval in writing via e-mail for additional work. With most custom projects not bought online I require 50% deposit for the majority of work and full payment upfront for services such as hosting.

Buying Online from design-star*

You can pay via paypal with or without a paypal account by clicking the 'Add to Basket' button for your chosen service. You do not have to have a paypal account to pay. Using paypal is free and secure, paypal is a registered financial institute within the UK that uses encrypted secure pages for a trouble free transaction. Once you have made the payment on paypal you will be returned to this website once your payment is complete. Please get in touch via the contact form if you experience any problems i.e. closed the browser accidentally, internet connection stopped during transaction etc. I can check my paypal account and verify whether the transaction was completed correctly. As soon as your payment is made I will be in touch within 48 working hours to discuss your needs and start the design process. If the service you want to buy does not have a 'Add to Basket' button please submit your project requirements via the free quote form, once you agree the price of your project you can make a secure payment via paypal via a custom payment page. You also have the option to set up a BACS transfer or pay via UK cheque. All prices include VAT and postage (if applicable).

Apart from buying from the website and sending payments via PayPal you can send payment via UK cheque details of all payment options will be on your deposit invoice.

Submitting your website content

You can send your text, images and files via e-mail providing the total size is below 20 megabytes. For hard copy and files over 20 megabytes you can send these on disk through the post.

IMAGE CONTENT

Here are some options for submitting your existing images:

- Via e-mail as a attachment (please check with me first as sometimes the sizes of files can take a long time to send)
- On disk through the post
- Hard copy for scanning through the post - I would recommed a hard backed envelope and recorded delivery.
- FTP (if you know how to use this)

When sending your image you will need to e-mail me brief information to identify each image, for example:

At the start of your project I can discuss and provide you with more detailed information on sending information to suit your requirements.

TEXT CONTENT

When sending text documents you should ideally send them in a notepad file, PDF, wordpad, textpad or in the body of an e-mail.

Here are some options for submitting your existing text documents:

- Via e-mail as a attachment (please check with me first as sometimes the sizes of files can take a long time to send)
- On disk through the post
- Hard copy for scanning through the post - I would recommed a hard backed envelope and recorded delivery.

You also need to identify what each document is for, for example:

Document name: products-cards-all.ppt
Use: This is a list of products for sale. Information for each product includes Title / Description / Price / Postage / Colours Available / Image File

Document name: terms.txt
Use: Text for my terms and conditions of business page

Website not showing on search results?

Search engines state that they can occasionally drop your website off the search results and this might happens for a few reasons, the most popular search engine states that it is normally to do with either search engine updates or if your website has been updated recently. If your website has previously shown on the search engine results it will appear again within a few days or up to 2 weeks..

Why is there no buy online facility for custom web design

Because a custom web design project varies so much between customers I create a custom payment page for each project or invoice directly from PayPal if you already have a account and e-mail a PDF invoice to you for your administration.
